SoundLib(TM) v1.01 Copyright (c) 1995 C. Le Brasseur All rights reserved. Upgrading from an older release (v0.9 beta or v0.95 beta) to v1.01 : 1) First, you should install SoundLib v1.01, using the supplied install.exe. When the install program asks you where to install SoundLib, you may enter the same directory as the beta if you want to preserve your midi devices setup and working directory (however, v0.9 users will lose the "Ensoniq VFX family" entry in their synth setup). 2) The first time SoundLib v1.01 is launched it will automaticaly shows the configuration window. In this window you must check your devices, working directory and cakewalk's path (note that the Cakewalk parameter in soundlib.ini is now "path" instead of "patches.ini"). 3) Now, you should convert all your libraries to the 1.01 format : - open the library to convert, - choose "Check Library..." from the Options menu (this is recommanded due to potential problems in the beta versions), - Save the library 4) You should take care of the semantic change on the patch card : the "status" field has been changed to "favourite" ; so your validated cards are now your favourite ones. Use the "search" and "view/edit" or "global edit" commands to update your libraries. 5) Optionaly, you may want to use the new set of default categories, notably : - "acoustic" has been changed to "instrument" - "xx-incomming" changed to "xx-incoming" :-) However, this will require some work : If you installed SoundLib in a new directory, theses categories are already in "soundlib.ini", otherwise, they can be found in "soundlib.new", so if you want, you can move them to "soundlib.ini". Now, new libraries will use the new set, but older have their own categories. If you want to use the new categories in the older libraries do as follow : - open the library, - choose "Option/Add default categories", - now you can move patches from old categories to new ones by using the "Patches/Global/Edit" feature. NOTE : In SoundLib v1.01, you cannot remove a category from a library, so the old categories will stay in the library, even if you don't use them any more. A solution should appear in the next release... *** end of file upgrade.txt ***
