66mhz BeBox

My friend Bart Grantham was moving to NYC, and he gave me his bebox in addition to an in-the-box Acoustic Coupler from Radio Shack! The BeBox was an awesome idea that unfortunately ceased to exist. Be decided to continue to develop their OS, and quit the production of their hardware.

Their hardware was damn near perfect. This box has dual 66mhz PowerPC CPUs, which at the time was impressive. The later model features 133 or 166mhz PowerPC CPUs. This BeBox is incomplete, and is missing the plastic front with the LED meters, and the IO riser. I've looked for these parts but so far have not found any spares.

The IO riser is home to MIDI, real RCA audio ports, optical SPDIF connection I believe, a GEEK port featuring fused power connections and multiple digital IO lines (and possibly ADC/DACs as well!).... 4 .. !!4!! serial ports. If someone said design the perfect computer, this was it. Hopefully some day I will find the plastic front and IO riser, and then I can load BeOS on it as they were shipped at the time.

Much thanks goes to Bart on this one! And the Acoustic coupler!
